Mr. Raul Torres Santos, a loving husband and father of two sons, started Eastwood Robotics back in 2013 with the solo purpose of encouraging and influencing teens to join the STEM programs offered at Eastwood High School. He has inspired many students to work hard as he did when he first started the team by showing everyone it takes hard work and dedication to make it to the top. Back in 2017, Mr. Torres was awarded Volunteer of the Year, at 2016-2017 VEX Robotics World’s Competition, in honor of his selflessness towards his community. Not only has he helped his community but for the past three years, Mr. Torres has hosted the biggest Girl Powered events to engage young women into pursuing careers in the STEM field, and to this day he is trying his hardest and won’t give up until he makes sure everyone has an opportunity to experience this event and has a taste of the STEM program.
