Girl Powered is a movement to change the face, idea, of the STEM field. A movement designed to show girls they are just as relevant as boys. That the STEM field may be male dominant but it does not have to remain that way. This is a movement made to empower, inspire, and change the thought process of young girls with great minds.
 

Just last year, Eastwood High School hosted the biggest Girl Powered Event in the world. Eastwood Robotics was recognized at the Worlds Robotics Competitions for this remarkable achievement. All of this could not have been possible without the help of the Eastwood administration and the dedicated members of the robotics team. Eastwood Robotics is eternally grateful for the opportunity to make a tremendous impact on the lives of over 350 young ladies. Our greatest mission is to not only win competitions or attend worlds. There is a greater purpose in this program: to make a real-life impact in the lives pf young girls now more than ever. We encourage all girls to understand that they are not inferior but equal to boys and they posses the same capabilities as them. Eastwood Robotics does everything in their power to inspire the girls around them to join the STEM field. Showing them, it is a safe environment for them just as much as it is for boys. Eastwood Robotics believes if any one person says you can not do something, that should push you to keep going, persevere. As Mae Jemison, physicist and astronaut, once said: “Don’t let anyone rob you of your imagination, your creativity, or your curiosity.”
 

Now, Eastwood Robotics went on again to host another Girl Powered event in their 2017 year. For this event they did not let anything hold them back. Although, they were aware that the construction currently going on at Eastwood High School would cause some difficulties. They prevailed and went forward to go above and beyond what they did the year prior. They welcomed over 500 girls into their gymnasium. Proceeded to then gift each girl who was present with their very own Girl Powered shirt, designed by Eastwood Robotics.
